Dozens of abandoned golden retrievers "rescued" from Turkey have arrived in Atlanta, U.S. media has reported, adding that English interpreters were hired to help them in their new life.
Turkish Akba? dogs' popularity on the rise
The popularity of the Turkish native shepherd dog breed called ?Akba?? has increased, said president of the Akba? Shepherd Dog Conservation and Research Association (AKAD) Erhan Ulutürk, adding that the waiting list for buying an Akba? was at least five months.

Bird flu found in Turkey's west, area quarantined
Bird flu was found among dead birds in Turkey?s western district of Band?rma?s Edincik area, where around 1.2 million chickens are bred in poultry facilities. The three kilometers surrounding the poultry facility where the flu was found was quarantined.

Vreni, the first avalanche rescue dog certified in Romania
The city of Caransebes can boast an avalanche response team complete with the first avalanche rescue dog to have earned his certification in Romania. It's actually a female Belgian Malinois, "her name is Vreni, and she's 20 months old. This is the first dog born, trained, tested and certified in Romania for avalanche search and rescue.
A Gallipoli story
It was a few days ago that the 100th anniversary of what is called the ?Gallipoli Campaign? in world literature was commemorated, when ten thousands of Anzac, British, French, Canadian, Irish, Nepalese, Indian and Senegalese soldiers fought on this land in 1915.

A display of canine vigor: The National Championship of Romanian Shepherd Dogs
More than 200 sheepdogs from the Romanian Shepherd breeds Raven, Mioritic, Carpathian and Bucovina will participate on Sunday in Predeal in the second edition of the National Championship for Romanian Shepherds and in the sixth edition of the show dedicated to these vigorous herd guarding dogs.
