Kaklamanis explains how he almost became Greek PM

PASOK veteran Apostolos Kaklamanis revealed in a statement on Friday that on November 8, 2011, he accepted an offer from then Prime Minister George Papandreou to become interim premier after the latter’s aborted effort to hold a referendum on Greece’s second bailout.

In the statement, Kaklamanis explained that he held brief talks with Papandreou before agreeing to take on the role.

Samaras gears up to present growth plan on Friday

Greek Supreme Court allows Golden Dawn to run in European elections


Greece's Supreme Court has allowed neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn to participate in upcoming European Parliament elections, a party lawyer said on Sunday.

The authorisation came despite an ongoing criminal probe against the political party, six of whose lawmakers including its leader are in prison awaiting trial.
