Agreement reached on Aphrodite

The Cyprus government and US energy company Chevron have successfully concluded negotiations on the development of the Aphrodite gas field, marking a significant breakthrough, according to a report by The Associated Press. 

The Aphrodite gas field, the first to be discovered beneath the seafloor off Cyprus, is estimated to hold 4.2 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Chevron prepares tender for East Med drilling vessel

Chevron is preparing to issue a tender to lease a drilling ship to explore for natural gas off Cyprus, Egypt and Israel, it said on Monday.

Reuters this month cited sources saying that the US company had issued a tender seeking a drilling vessel in 2024 for a year with an option to extend for several years.

Israel says ready to cooperate with Turkey on east Med gas

Israel's energy minister said on March 9 that Tel Aviv is ready to cooperate with Turkey on natural gas in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Yuval Steinitz was speaking to the press about the Eastern Mediterranean Natural Gas Pipeline (EastMed) project during a visit to the Greek Cypriot administration.
