Need for caution

Over the past few years Greece has established close ties with the United States and Israel. These ties have gained even greater depth under the current leftist-led government.

However, the country needs to be cautious. These relations must not be advertised beyond a certain point. The fact is they are more effective when they remain "under the radar," as it were.

Hurting friends and helping enemies

Donald Trump's decision to declare victory in Syria and pull US troops out of the country is shocking on many levels. Perhaps the greatest shock is that it undermines one of the few, hitherto unshakeable, principles of how the world works: there are no friendships in diplomacy, only national interests.
