The wreckage of an Argentine navy submarine that exploded and disappeared a year ago was located in the Atlantic Ocean Friday, the navy said, crushing any remaining hope for relatives of the 44 crew.

There is no hope of rescuing the crew members of the Argentine submarine that disappeared two weeks ago, Nova TV reported.
The navy announced it had ceased the operation to rescue the 44 people.

An Argentine navy spokesman said the rescue operation lasted twice as many days as it was believed the crew could have survived.

A US military aircraft involved in the search for the missing Argentinean submarine found a heat-emitting object at the bottom of the ocean.

A metal object at a depth of 70 meters and 300 kilometers from the shores of the Argentine province of Chubut was detected, according to local media.

Rescue ships and planes were directed to the site.

The missing Argentine submarine may have been located early this morning, after a US Navy aircraft allegedly detected a ‘heat stain’ from 230ft below the surface, some 185miles from the coast, and rescue vessel reported hearing a sonar signal.
