Armenia announced today that it will host joint military exercises with the United States next week, likely to irritate Russia, Reuters reported.

The Armenian Defense Ministry said the purpose of the "Eagle Partner 2023" exercise, which will take place from September 11 to 20, is to prepare Armenian forces to participate in international peacekeeping missions.

Armenia accused Azerbaijan of sending troops across the border last week, emphasizing the fragility of the ceasefire achieved through Russia, which stopped six weeks of conflict between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces last year, Reuters reported.
Azerbaijan has previously denied crossing the border.

Azerbaijan on Feb. 28 warned Armenia not to deploy new troops to its territories.

In a Foreign Ministry statement, Baku said that deploying its forces in internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan was contradicting international law and the basic principles of international human rights.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has dismissed Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, colonel-general Onik Gasparyan who along with 40 high-ranking officers demanded his resignation.

A joint Turkish and Russian center to monitor a cease-fire deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia will play a significant role in maintaining permanent peace in Upper Karabakh, Turkey's national defense minister said on Feb. 1. 

Possibilities for conducting joint military exercises have been discussed by Chief of Defense General Andrei Botsev and the Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Artak Davtyan, reported the Bulgarian National Radio. 

September 2017 will see Serbia's full-blown participation in the war games of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), according to media reports.
