Turkish and Armenian officials have agreed to open the land border for third country citizens visiting both countries as soon as possible, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on July 1. 

Türkiye and Armenia will hold the fourth round of meetings for the normalization of ties, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on June 28.

"The fourth meeting of the Special Representatives for the normalization process between Türkiye and Armenia, Ambassador Serdar Kılıç and Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, will take place in Vienna on July 1, 2022," read the statement.

The special representatives of Turkey and Armenia held the third round of normalization talks in Vienna on May 3 and agreed to continue the negotiations without preconditions, the Foreign Ministry has said.

The special representatives from Turkey and Armenia will hold their third in-person meeting next week as part of an ongoing mutual bid to establish diplomatic ties between the two neighbors, the Foreign Ministry has said.

Turkey and Armenia held a second round of talks for the normalization of ties on Feb. 24 in Vienna to restore relations between the two neighboring countries.

Historic rivals Turkey and Armenia on Feb. 2 resumed their first commercial flights in two years as part of cautious efforts to warm their frozen ties.

Armenia and Turkey have no diplomatic relations, a closed land border and a deep-seated hostility rooted in the 1915 events. 

Turkey and Armenia will launch mutual charter flights on Feb. 2 as part of an ongoing process for the normalization of ties.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Jan. 14 that Armenia will likely attend this year's Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey's southern province of Antalya.

"Our special representatives have met. If the process continues like this, it is highly possible that Armenia will participate in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum," he said at a virtual news conference.

Turkey's near-term priority in foreign policy will continue to be normalizing the strained ties with regional foes, including Armenia, Israel and Gulf countries, the daily Hürriyet has learned from sources.

Russia on Nov. 25 voiced support for normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia, saying it would contribute to the regional stability.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Armenia asked Russia to help in this process, adding that some steps in this regard had already been taken.
