Actor Ion Caramitru was buried on Friday, with military honours, on the Actors' Alley of the Bellu Cemetery in the Capital City, in the presence of dozens of people who applauded for a long time.

The standing committees on foreign policy of the Senate and the Deputies' Chamber gave the green light, unanimously (15 votes 'in favour'), for George Ciamba's appointment as Romania's Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic.

Albania is expected to adopt a new law on minorities in mid-October that gives them more rights in line with the best international standards.

The draft law was presented as a joint document of four ministries after a working group worked on it for almost three years.

BELGRADE -- Serbia has the full moral right to demand for its minority in Albania the same that it provides for the Albanian minority in Serbia, says an MP.

The Macedonian Foreign Ministry said that it will summon the US deputy ambassador to Skopje first thing on Monday to convey its dissatisfaction about the statement by the American diplomat Jess Baily.

"The ministry is reacting to the inappropriate use of the term 'Slavs' by the newly-appointed US ambassador to Macedonia," the Ministry said in a press release.

Council of Europe resolution to foster minority rights, languages in Albania

A law on nationalities would help clarify Albania's policy, and other steps also are needed to address remaining discriminatory practices against minorities.
