Beekeeping deputy mayor faces arson investigation in deadly Corinthia fire

The 70-year-old deputy mayor of Xylokastro-Evrostini, in the Peloponnese, the main suspect for arson in a deadly fire that occurred in late September, has been given 48 hours to testify. 

On Wednesday, a Corinth prosecutor ordered a preliminary investigation into the four-day fire that claimed two lives and burned 71 square kilometers of forest.

Man sentenced to prison for arson in Ilia

A 27-year-old man was sentenced on Monday to three years and six months in prison after being arrested for arson by investigative officers of the fire service in Ilia. 

According to the fire service's announcement, the fire occurred on Sunday in a plot of land in Kyllini, Peloponnese. 

After the sentencing, the 27-year-old was taken to Nafplio prison.

Turkish family in Canada awaits clarity after restaurant arson

A Turkish family is awaiting answers after their restaurant in the Canadian province of Quebec was the target of two arson attacks in just over two weeks.

Pizza Mozza, owned by three brothers of Turkish origin, was first hit on the night of Aug. 31, resulting in minor damage. The second incident on Sept. 2 caused significant damage.

Fire service skeptical of arson claims in egg factory fire

The fire service remains skeptical of the eco-militant group's claims of responsibility for the arson attack on an egg factory in Thessaloniki, as reported by MEGA TV on Thursday.

Based on initial findings, the fire service doubts that the fire was caused by arson. Instead, authorities suggest that the fire was caused by a short circuit.
