Trump announces ban on transgender people in the U.S. Military
President Donald Trump announced via Twitter that he is not allowing transgender people to serve in the U.S. military, a reversal of former President Obama’s decision last year to let them serve.

US will sharpen 'military edge' in Asia, says Carter
U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Sept. 29 that the U.S. will "sharpen our military edge" in Asia and the Pacific in order to remain a dominant power in a region feeling the effects of China's rising military might.
Carter made the pledge in a speech aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson in port in San Diego.
Russia "seems more willing to use nuclear weapons"
U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter has accused Russia of engaging in "nuclear saber rattling."
Speaking at an U.S. Air Force base in North Dakota, he "expressed concerns over Russia’s push to overhaul its atomic weapons systems," AFP reported.

US defense chief welcomes Saudi offer on troops in Syria
