Asia–Europe Meeting

Ljubljana – Prime Minister Janez Janša had a video call with his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen on Tuesday with his office saying the pair discussed bilateral relations between the two countries which they both wish to enhance.

The Republic of Bulgaria would like to reintensify its relations with the Kingdom of Thailand, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva after signing a visa-free agreement for holders of diplomatic and service passports on both sides with his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai in Madrid yesterday.
 

Romania's objective is to join the Schengen Area, Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu reiterated in a meeting with his Dutch counterpart Stef Blok. The meeting between the two officials took place on the sidelines of the Asia-Europe meeting (ASEM) of foreign ministers, in Madrid.

Romania is interested in capitalising on the Strategic Partnership with the Republic of Korea on a higher level, Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu said, in a meeting with his Korean counterpart Kang Kyung-wha. The meeting between the two officials took place on the sidelines of the Asia-Europe (ASEM) meeting of foreign ministers, in Madrid.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva met with Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi. The two spoke in Madrid at the 14th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Asia-Europe Forum (ASEM).
 

President Klaus Iohannis on Monday welcomed at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, in which context he showed this country is one of the traditional economic partners of Romania in South-East Asia and encouraged an increase in trade exchanges between Romania and Vietnam.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel held separate meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko late on Thursday.

Merkel's initiative on the sidelines the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in Milan, hours before Putin and Poroshenko are expected to discuss the Ukraine crisis.

Bulgaria's President Rosen Plevneliev is to arrive in Italy on a working visit for the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit of Heads of State and Government (ASEM10) in Milan.

Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Titus Corlatean and his Singaporean counterpart Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam in New York on Wednesday agreed to relaunch the bilateral relations.
