Bulgaria’s Ludogorets Reaches UEFA Champions League Group Stage

Bulgaria’s PFC Ludogorets Razgrad has reached the Champions League group stage after beating Romanian Steaua Bucharest.

Ludogorets won the match on the Vasl Levski National Stadium in Sofia 6:5 on penalties.

The Bulgarian champions will now be in the hat for Thursday's Champions League group stage draw, which has been scheduled for 6.45 pm EET.

Ranieri brings in new faces for his first Greece squad

New Greece coach Claudio Ranieri announced Wednesday a 24-man squad for the first Euro 2016 qualifier against Romania at home on September 7.

Earning a first time call up were Olympiakos 21-year-old striker Dimitris Diamantakos and Levante's 29-year-old defender Nikos Karabelas.

Ranieri left out six players who helped Greece make it to the World Cup last 16.

Arsonists attack Panathinaikos fan club in Athens on opening day of season

Nine people were detained on Sunday after a Panathinaikos supporters’ club in southeastern Athens was attacked.

Assailants threw Molotov cocktails at the building on Vouliagmenis Avenue in Dafni. Nobody was injured.

The attack took place a few hours before Panathinaikos played its opening game in the new Super League soccer season, drawing 0-0 with Levadiakos.
