İzmir, Thessaloniki to connect with new ferry line

Turkey and Greece are working on a new ferry line between Thessaloniki and İzmir which is expected to set sail in early 2017, drawing the countries closer together in the process. 

Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris, who has been enthusiastic in encouraging Turks to visit his city, was in Ankara for talks on the ferry line project that will carry both trucks and passengers. 

Finnish author deported from Turkey for 'terror links'

A Finnish author is set to be deported from Turkey after being detained in the eastern province of Van for alleged "links to terrorism."

Taina Niemela was taken to the police deportation center on April 28 after an investigation opened upon claims that she attended a funeral of terrorist group members. 

Dismantled plane to be turned into restaurant in western town

A dismantled plane, which has reached its flight limits, will be used as a restaurant in the town of Edremit, located in the western province of Bal?kkesir. 

The plane's transformation into a restaurant began when a private aviation company bought the Airbus A340 plane from Turkish Airlines (THY). The plane was first dismantled into eight parts in Istanbul's Atatürk Airport.

Turkey remembers Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on his death anniversary

Thousands flocked to the mausoleum of the Turkish Republic's founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in Ankara to commemorate the leader who passed away 77 years ago on Nov. 10.    

An?tkabir will be open to visit until 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 10 in an event that sees tens of thousands of people gather every year. 

Nation to remember founding father Atatürk

Turkey will remember the founding father of the modern republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, on the 77th anniversary of his death in ceremonies across the country, with his mausoleum in Ankara, An?tkabir, being the heart of the events.

An?tkabir will be open to visit until 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 10 in an event which sees tens of thousands of people gather every year.
