Conductor Grammenos’ impromptu performance saves the evening
On Friday night, we waited in the packed Christos Lambrakis Hall for conductor Karina Canellakis to take the stage to conduct the London Philharmonic in a much-anticipated concert. The president of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, was also present in the main box.

Meizon | Athens | March 9
Male vocal ensemble Meizon, featuring some of the country's top opera singers, goes a cappella at the Athens Concert Hall. The ensemble is made up of 14 soloists who are all fans of choral music and the program will include works by various composers and from different periods, such as "The Peacock" (1938-9) by Zoltan Kodaly and "In Paradisum" (2012) by Galina Grigorjewa.

Athens String Quartet | Athens | March 4
The Athens String Quartet will appear at the Athens Concert Hall's Dimitris Mitropoulos with a program of works by three great composers: Johann Sebastian Bach's "Die Kunst der Fuge: Subject and Contrapuncti 6, 4, 9," Alfred Schnittke's String Quartet No. 3, and Ludwig van Beethoven's String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat major (Op.130). The quartet is comprised of two violins, a viola and a cello.

Harpsichord Bach | Athens | February 22
The Camerata - Friends of Music Orchestra Musicians revisits the baroque repertory on February 22, performing Bach's masterly concerti for two, three and four harpsichords on period instruments, under the baton of Markellos Chryssicos. The harpsichords will be played by Chryssicos, Panos Iliopoulos, Gerasimos Choidas, Jason Marmaras, Alexandros Mastichiadis and Elke Robersscheuten.
