The Athens State Orchestra will be on stage at the Athens Concert Hall on Saturday, December 21, for a very special evening filled with the spirit of Christmas. The program on the night comprises Cantatas 1, 2 and 3 from one of Johann Sebastian Bach's most popular works, the Christmas Oratorio.

British choreographer Russell Maliphant, Greek composer Vangelis and London-based Greek fashion designer Mary Katrantzou have joined their formidable forces in "The Thread," a production inspired by the story of Ariadne which marries the two seemingly incongruous worlds of Greek mythology and contemporary dance.

The Athens Concert Hall is screening a live performance from the National Theater in London of Simon Woods' new play "Hansard: The Official Report of All Parliamentary Debates," a witty and devastating portrait of the governing class in the UK, directed by Simon Godwin and starring Olivier Award-winners Lindsay Duncan and Alex Jennings.

After touring Europe, North America, Asia and Australia for the past two-and-a-half years, award-winning choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou returns to Greece for two final performances of "The Great Tamer" at the Athens Concert Hall on November 29 and 30.

Tuning in live from Moscow, the Athens Concert Hall will be screening the Bolshoi Ballet's celebrated production of "Raymonda," choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich after Marius Petipa, on Sunday, October 27. In Alexander Glasunov's romance Raymonda is betrothed to Jean de Brienne, a gallant knight in the service of the King of Hungary.

The Athens and Thessaloniki concert halls are screening a performance of Jules Massenet's opera comique "Manon," live from New York's Met on Saturday, starting at 7.55 p.m.

After a successful collaboration with the Athens State Orchestra last year, dynamic Belgian conductor Michel Tilkin returns to the podium to conduct the acclaimed Greek ensemble at the Athens Concert Hall on Friday, December 18.
