Transport workers revise working hours for Wed strike

Transport workers in Athens have revised the hours they will work on Wednesday, when private-sector union ADEDY has called a 24-hour strike.

Lines 2 (Red) and 3 (Blue) of the Athens metro will operate from noon until 4 p.m., while Line 1 (Green) will run from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Buses and trolleys will remain in depots and not operate, due to the strike.

Athens Metro: The map of the new extension to Ilion

Ten years after the delivery of the last major extension of Line 2 of the Athens metro, which today connects Anthoupolis with Ellinikon, a new esxtension is on the way. Attiko Metro yesterday turned the hourglass of the tender for the extension to Ilion with approximately 4 km of new line and three new stations.

The contract for the northern part of the E65 highway will be signed tomorrow, as announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Costas Karamanlis, speaking to Parapolitika 90.1 FM. Metro – Line 4: The first construction sites in Athens are beginning works

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is opening space for the first construction sites of Line 4 of the Athens metro. The gears that will set in motion the largest construction project in the country, with a budget of 1.8 billion euros, have begun to move. Three central Athens metro stations ordered closed from 4 p.m.

The downtown Athens metro stations of Panepistimio, Monastiraki and Evangelismos will be closed at 4 p.m. on Friday on the orders of the Greek police.

The station closure was ordered to take place ahead of a 5 p.m. protest rally planned outside Athens University on Panepistimiou Street in support of jailed November 17 terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas.
