Security cameras to be installed inside Athens metro trains

Under the fear of terrorist attacks, Greece’s independent privacy regulator, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA), gave the Athens metro company STASY permission to install security cameras inside 17 new metro trains serving lines 2 (Anthoupolis-Elliniko) and 3 (Agia Marina-Doukissis Plakentias – Airport).

Public transport strike action to affect travel on Thursday

There will be disruptions to the Greek public transport network due to a work stoppage by employees of the Athens metro, tram, bus, trolley and electric railway (ISAP) services, while railway and suburban railway employees will join the 24-hour strike called by Greece’s two major unions, GSEE and ADEDY.

5-hour public transport strikes from 10am to 3pm Monday

Transport to the Athens International airport will be disrupted due to a 5-hour strike Monday from the Suburban Railway and the Athens Metro from 10am to 3pm. The Athens to Thessaloniki railway lines will also stop due to industrial actions, as will the suburban line. More specifically the following lines will stop:

Athens without metro, ISAP, tram on Tuesday morning

A walkout by staff on public transport on Tuesday is to cause travel disruptions.

Services on the Athens metro, the ISAP electric railway and the tram will not start until 8 a.m. while trolley bus services will be suspended between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Protesters are demanding recruitment, the reversal of transfers and relocations, and more funding for transport services.

Public transport stoppage on Tuesday

Workers on the Athens metro, ISAP electric railway and tram will stage a brief work stoppage on Tuesday, starting their shift at 8 a.m. rather than 5 a.m.

The union representing workers on fixed-track modes of transportation is protesting staffing and administration policies, saying it is prepared to take more action unless demands are met.

Public transport unions organize industrial action on Labor Day

Early morning services on the Athens metro, electric railway Kifissia-Piraeus ISAP and tram will be disrupted on Friday, Labor Day, due to a stoppage announced by their unions. Services will resume at 9 a.m.

Trainose, the company operating the national and suburban (Proastiakos) rail network, has also announced that its staff was going on strike in observance of May 1.
