23rd Athens Bike Race to take place on Sunday
Over 15,000 bikers will take part in the 23rd Athens Bike Race which will be held on Sunday 17 April with starting point the Syntagma square.
Athens mayor Giorgos Kaminis will give the start signal at 09:30 for the 11.5km run and at 9.50am for the 3km race.
Athens Bike Race is organised by the Culture, Sports and Youth organsation of the Athens’ municipality.

A migrant tried to set himself on fire in downtown Athens, Thursday. The individual was a member of the group that marched towards Syntagma Square, Wednesday with the intent to squat outside the Greek parliament, before they reconsidered after being threatened by police with deportation.

Archaic Kore travels from Acropolis Museum to Russia’s State Hermitage Museum
One of the Athens Acropolis’ finest and best-preserved korai – the archaic statues depicting young women – will be exhibited at the Roman Courtyard of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg on Friday.
The statue, which leaves Greece for the first time, is travelling to Russia in the framework of a cultural exchange program organised for the Year of Greece and Russia 2016.

Situation is out of control in refugee centers after recent violent incidents
More than 5,350 refugees and immigrants are staying in the passenger terminals of Greece’s biggest port, Piraeus, creating a suffocating situation which after the recent violent incidents has been out of control. About 300 people have already been transferred in Ilia and Ioannina, but on Friday the refugees were reluctant to go to refugee centers outside Attica district.
Sofia 'Most Dangerous City in EU'
The Bulgarian capital Sofia is the fifth most dangerous city in Europe and the most dangerous in the European Union, a study shows.
Moscow, St Petersburg, Kiev and Belgrade have bottomed the personal safety ranking in a recent report of US think-tank Mercer.
