Eight Dead in New York, after Torrential Rain from Hurricane Ida
Mayor Bill de Blasio has declared a state of emergency in New York City after record rainfall, dpa reported."We're enduring an historic weather event tonight with record breaking rain across the city, brutal flooding and dangerous conditions on our roads," de Blasio tweeted late Wednesday. At Least Two Deaths Reported As Hurricane Ida Ploughs through New Orleans
More than 1 million homes and businesses in Louisiana and Mississippi, including all of New Orleans, were left without power on Monday, as Ida, one of the most powerful hurricanes ever to hit the US mainland, pushed through on Sunday, AP reported. The damage was so extensive that officials warned it could be weeks before the power grid was repaired.
