Card transactions increasing due to ease of use: Central Bank
The proliferation of digital channels and the increased cost of carrying cash due to high inflation have boosted the use of debit and personal credit cards (PCCs), the Central Bank of Türkiye has said.
Banks move to monthly use fees
Banks are considering replacing fees for each transaction with monthly fees that will vary according to the package the customers use.
More expensive packages will come with more benefits, but, in any case, are planned to cost no more than 10 euros per month.
Bill payments and money transfers account for the vast majority of electronic transactions currently subject to a fee.

Contactless payment limit to double as of July

Greeks expanding use of credit cards
Use of credit and debit cards in Greece expanded 12.8 percent in the second quarter of 2019, but the average value of each transaction declined, according to data published on Tuesday by the Hellenic Bank Association.

Bulgarian Shot Dead in Quezon City in ATM Fraud
A Bulgarian, involved in ATM (automated teller machine) skimming, was shot dead by masked assailants at 10:20 p.m. on Thursday as he traversed Kalayaan Avenue in Quezon City. When Orlin Grozdanov Stoev, 38, approached Kamias Road at Barangay Pinyahan, the suspects opened fire at him.

Plastic money users could earn free credit on the spot
Taxpayers who use their credit and debit cards for transactions will have to wait until March for the Finance Ministry to issue its decision on the various state lotteries and prize draws. Deputy Minister Katerina Papanatsiou noted however that although the decision will not be released until the end of March, the draws will include card transactions conducted since January 1.
