Police cracks down on illegal airport transport services
Tourists visiting Athens are advised against using private transport services that do not have proper taxi licenses, following a crackdown on mini-vans carrying paying passengers to and from Athens airport.
Western routes of Attiki Odos to close for maintenance
The western section of the Attiki Odos Attica beltway will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. on Thursday, due to scheduled maintenance works.
Specifically, the routes affected will be the western part of the regional Ymittou Avenue heading to Vrilissia and Elefsina.
Toll prices to shoot up at the start of the new year
Toll prices }will be hiked by an average of 7-7.5% as of January 1, according to the new rates published by the six operators of Greece's national highways, in line with an agreement with the Infrastructure Ministry.
This means, for example, that the Athens - Thessaloniki trip for a regular sized family car will increase by 2.20 euros to €33.55.
Athens ring road exit to airport to be closed for several hours
The exit to Athens International Airport on the Attiki Odos ring road will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. on Tuesday night until 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning, the highway's operator has said.
Exit 7 from Dimokratias Avenue in Acharnes towards the airport will be closed as maintenance is carried out on that stretch of the road, the company said.
Attiki Odos Exit 8 shutdown in Piraeus direction
The exit of the Attiki Odos towards the Athens-Lamia Highway (Exit 8) leading from the Athens International Airport toward Piraeus will be shut down from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday for heavy repairs to the tarmac.

Bids for new Attiki Odos concession to be published next month
Privatization agency Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (TAIPED) will publish the six competitive bids for the new concession of the Attiki Odos ring road linking the capital to its airport before September 9. It will then call on the highest bidder and those whose bids are up to 5% less than the highest to resubmit.

Four villages evacuated as Viotia blaze spreads
The residents of four parts of Dervenohoria in Viotia, northwest of Athens, were ordered to evacuate towards the West Attica town of Mandra on Tuesday as a wildfire started to approach homes and thick smoke filled the air.
Panorama, Pournari, Palaiohori and Agios Sotiras were being evacuated, as the blaze also crossed regional lines into Attica, heading towards Vilia and Oinoi.

Bottlenecks formed at Athens entry points as voters return
Cars formed long lines on national roads around Attica on Sunday afternoon, as voters returned from voting centers outside the capital.
Traffic was particularly heavy on the Athens-Corinth national highway heading to Athens, particularly from the Corinth Canal to Nea Peramos.
