The phrase "Polish death camp" has long upset and infuriated many people in Poland.

It's an inaccurate term most often used by uninformed tourists, journalists or politicians in relation to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the notorious former Nazi concentration camp which lies in southern Poland.

January 27th is the International Holocaust Memorial Day. On that day in 1945 the few survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp were released. This happens in the process of the victory of the Allied troops over Hitler and the entry of the Red Army into the camp. Auschwitz remains a symbol of the Nazi genocide.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic will officially open a Serbian-Jewish exhibition "Jasenovac - the Right Not to Forget."

Polish Holocaust survivor Kazimierz Piechowski, who spectacularly escaped Auschwitz by stealing the car of a Nazi SS officer, died on Dec. 15 aged 98, the state Institute for National Remembrance (INR) said.
