Greece to seek amended fiscal targets after 2020
The government is seeking to ride the new momentum created by the health crisis in Europe, at the expense of the once unique recipe of austerity, while the first-quarter fiscal data compiled by the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) indicated an annual deterioration of 1.3 billion euros.

Coronavirus epidemic in numbers
The ranks of the jobless swelled from EUR 77,484 at the end of February to 88,648 by the end of April, according to Employment Service figures.
Growth slowed in May, but the jobless total has already exceeded 90,000 and many more are expected to be laid off in the coming months.

EC recommends Romania to avoid implementing permanent measures endangering fiscal sustainability
The European Commission has recommended Romania to pursue fiscal policies in line with the Council's recommendation of 3 April 2020 that Romania should put an end to the present excessive deficit situation by 2022 at the latest, according to the recommendations in the European Semester Spring package released on Wednesday.
Marfin Bank victims commemorated
A plaque commemorating the three employees of Marfin Bank who died by asphyxiation when their branch was firebombed during a protest march on May 5, 2010, was unveiled in Athens Saturday.
Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and many other officials attended the ceremony.

Plaque commemorating Marfin Bank victims to be unveiled Saturday
A plaque commemorating the victims of a firebomb attack on a bank in central Athens during anti-austerity riots in May 2010 will be unveiled on Saturday, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said Wednesday.
In a message on Twitter, Mitsotakis invited Greek party leaders to attend the event as a gesture of solidarity against violence and division.
