Turkish Airlines' passenger numbers rise 8.7 percent in first five months

The total number of passengers carried by Turkish Airlines increased by 8.7 percent in the first five months of the year, rising to 23.2 million from 21.4 million in the same period of 2014. 

The company saw an increase in the number of domestic and international passengers, by 10.5 percent and 7.4 percent respectively.

Austrian Post wants to expand in Turkey

Austrian Post wants to expand in Turkey by increasing its stake to 75 percent in parcel delivery company Aras Kargo, Chief Executive Georg Poelzl told reporters on April 21.

Poelzl said Austrian Post, which has held a quarter of the Turkish group since 2013, planned to pay 100-150 million euros ($107-$160 million) in cash, exercising a call option.

Strike of Lufthansa Pilots Cancels All Flights Between Sofia, Germany

All ten Lufthansa-operated flights between Sofia and Munich and Frankfurt are cancelled on Wednesday due to the announced 12-hour strike of the airline's pilots.

The German airline cancelled on Wednesday 750 out of its 1400 scheduled domestic and European, which is expected to affect 80 000 passengers, the Business Insider reports.

Bulgaria Air in Codeshare Deal with Germany's airberlin

Airberlin, Germany's second largest airline, and Bulgaria Air will launch codeshare flights on some European routes from January 14 next year, austrianaviation.net has reported.

Under the codeshare agreement, airberlin will apply its AB airline code on Bulgaria Air flights from Berlin, Frankfurt and Vienna to Sofia.
