Slovenian author Marwan receives Austrian literary prize
Klagenfurt – Ana Marwan, a Slovenian author who lives and works in Austria, is the recipient of this year’s Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, a prestigious prize for works in German conferred by the city of Klagenfurt, Austrian broadcaster ORF reported.
Minority poet Maja Haderlap wins Christine Lavant Prize
Vienna – Slovenian minority poet and writer Maja Haderlap from Carinthia, Austria, has won the Christine Lavant Prize for her work, including a novel about the battle of Slovenians living in Carinthia against National Socialism in Austria, the newspaper Delo reported on Tuesday.
Peter Handke becomes honorary citizen of Belgrade
Austrian writer and humanitarian Peter Handke was presented with the Charter of Honorary Citizen Of Belgrade by Mayor Sinisa Mali on Thursday.
Mali said during the ceremony the charter was "a stamp on the friendship of a city and a man, a writer and humanitarian who has a special commitment to Belgrade," Tanjug reported.
