Turkey's airports served a total of 74.08 million passengers in January-May, data from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) showed on June 5.  

Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines plans to hire up to 10,000 new personnel this year after it moved operations to Istanbul Airport and expects new aircraft to join its fleet later this year.

Albania's first national airline company- a joint venture with Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines- started flights on April 26 from Istanbul Airport, the city's new main international air hub.     

Ankara is digging in its heels on the procurement of super-advanced Russian S-400 surface-to-air missile systems and has declared that it is determined to go ahead with the receipt of the first batch in July and that the system will be used to shield the Aegean and several other areas.

Turkish Airlines, Turkey's flag carrier air company, hosted in Istanbul 28,000 passengers from 28 countries in its stopover project over the past two years, the company said on Feb. 22.

Turkey's national flag carrier carried 75.2 million passengers last year, the company has announced.

Air passenger traffic at Turkey's airports increased by 8.8 percent in 2018 from the previous year, reaching 210 million passengers. 

The new Istanbul Airport will be a megahub in the world and locomotive for the Turkish aviation sector, said İlker Aycı, chairman of the board of directors of Turkish Airlines.

Phase one of Istanbul's new airport with an annual capacity of 90 million passengers is ready for its official opening on Monday, reported Anadolu Agency.

Turkey's national flag carrier has established a new investment and carriage company, Turkish Airlines (THY) announced on Sept. 26.
