Kosovo Leaders Testify in 'People's Eye' Trial

Kosovo's President, Hashim Thaci, and the speaker of parliament, Kadri Veseli, have been interviewed by the Special Prosecution in the case against ten suspected members of the "People's Eye" organisation.

One of the ten is Murat Jashari, who wounded Azem Vllasi, the former head of the former ruling League of Communists in Kosovo, in a shooting incident in March 2017.

'People's Eye' Lawyer Calls Kosovo Terror Group 'Fantasy'

Nearly one year after Kosovo lawyer and former politician Azem Vllasi was injured at the entrance of his apartment, the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office indicted ten suspected members of the "People's Eye" organisation on Wednesday.

One of the ten is Murat Jashari, who wounded the former head of the once ruling League of Communists in Kosovo in a shooting incident in March, 2017.

Kosovo: Media publish names of 30 figures on murder hit list

Media in Pristina have published a "hit list" containing the names of 30 persons from Kosovo, Macedonia, Bujanovac and Presevo.

The People's Eye organization - which recently took responsibility for the attempted murder of lawyer and former high ranking communist official from Kosovo Azem Vllasi - reportedly plans to kill these persons.

Kosovo Shooting Suspect 'Sought Revenge on Ex-Communist'

The lawyer for suspect Murat Jashari, an ethnic Albanian originally from the south-western Macedonian town of Kumanovo, told BIRN on Tuesday that his client said he shot Vllasi because of his alleged role in oppressing Kosovo's youth during his time as head of the former ruling Communists.

Vllasi Wounded in Shootout in Kosovo Capital

Former head of the ruling communists in Kosovo Azem Vllasi was wounded on Monday morning in Pristina in a shooting incident, police confirmed.

"Around 8am today we have received information about a shooting in Hajdar Dushi Street in Pristina. A person was wounded as a result," police spokesperson Florie Ahmeti told BIRN.
