The Faculty of Economics and Business Management (FSEGA) of the Cluj-Napoca-based Babes-Bolyai University (UBB) is ranking among the top 500 educational institutions in the world and it is first in Romania for subjects of economics and econometrics, according to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2021.

Two researchers with the Babes-Bolyai University (UBB) in western Cluj-Napoca have been named winners of the L'Oréal UNESCO awards for women in science. "Two researchers with the 'Babes-Bolyai' University of Cluj-Napoca are among the winners of the four scholarships worth 47,000 lei each awarded in the 11th edition of the L'Oréal UNESCO Awards for Women in Science.

The Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca is included in the QS World University Rankings, in the 800-1000 interval, the first 3 pct, together with the University of Bucharest, the only superior education institutions in Romania.

Several universities in Bucharest and elsewhere in Romania are holding today festivities to mark the opening of academic year 2019-2020. They include the University of Bucharest, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) and the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, as well as several faculties within the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration.

The President of the Romanian Academy, Ioan-Aurel Pop, compared Doina Cornea with the author of the famous novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin", who is known to have had a frail stature but who succeeded in overturning a world of injustice."

Romania's Ministry of Education has angered the country's academics with a decision to cut funding for the country's top universities, which have been increasingly critical of government policies in the past year.

Almost every month there is a new report in the Romanian media that another public dignitary is suspected of plagiarising her or his post-graduate dissertation.

Journalists present what they call evidence of plagiarism, the people accused deny any wrongdoing, while readers comment a lot.  And that's all.

The US Embassy in Bucharest on Wednesday announced it will award the May Entrepreneur of the Month to a Cluj-Napoca-based company founded by university students.

The third edition of the Open Book Night campaign will be carried out on Thursday, on the occasion of the World Book Day, at the same time in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, the book lovers being invited to form chains around symbol-buildings in the two cities.

The first Armenology Institute of Romania, which will operate within the 'Babes-Bolyai' University (UBB), was inaugurated in Cluj-Napoca on Friday, being aimed at conducting researches on the Armenian communities of Central and Eastern Europe.
