MHP leader renews call for closure of HDP
The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has once again renewed its calls for the closure of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), with MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli saying his party does not favor the closure of political parties, but parties involved in "acts of violence" should be punished.

Bahçeli renews his call on İYİ Party leader Akşener to return to MHP
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli has renewed his call on İYİ (Good) Party chair Meral Akşener to break with the opposition Nation's Alliance and return to her "home," meaning the MHP.
"There is still time, our suggestion is still valid. Return home, this ordeal will end," Bahçeli said during the MHP'S provincial heads meeting on Dec. 24.

MHP leader joins criticisms against CHP lawmaker’s comment on Turkish army
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli has criticized a main opposition party lawmaker for his comments on the Turkish army and has asked for an explanation for the same.
"The [Republican People's Party] CHP deputy's comment that the Turkish army is 'sold' is a dishonor that should be asked account for," he said, addressing the MHP lawmakers at the parliament.

The dismissal of three opposition lawmakers is "is an obligatory requirement of the justice and democracy ethics," leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahçeli said on June 8.

Yassıada 'Democracy and Freedoms Island' inaugurated
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated Democracy and Freedom Island on May 27 in waters near Istanbul on the 60th anniversary of a coup in Turkey.
"60 years ago, Turkey experienced one of the darkest days of its history with May 27 coup," Erdoğan said during the inauguration ceremony.
