At least 90 migrants rescued in Aegean Sea

A total of 90 migrants have been rescued by Turkish authorities in the Aegean Sea, according to a statement.

Turkey's Coast Guard Command said yesterday that it rescued a total of 90 migrants off Muğla and Balıkesir provinces.

The statement noted that 20 of the migrants were rescued off Bodrum district in Muğla, while 25 were helped off the coast of Marmaris district.

Death toll in bus crashes in western Turkey rises to 23

Eight people died and 11 others were injured in Izmir province when a passenger bus veered off an embankment and plunged to the ground in Kemalpaşa district, Izmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger said on Twitter.

At least 15 killed in passenger bus crash in western Turkey

A passenger bus overturned in western Turkey early on Aug. 8, killing at least 15 and wounding 18, according to emergency responders.

The bus went out of control and overturned on the Balıkesir Highway while heading to Edremit in the western Balıkesir province.

The 18 wounded passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Asylum seekers rescued in northwest Turkey

Turkey's coast guard rescued at least 24 asylum seekers stranded in the Aegean Sea off Ayvalık district in northwestern Balıkesir province late on April 5. 

The asylum seekers, who were attempting to reach the Greek island of Lesbos in a rubber boat, were stranded and drifting at sea after the engine failed near Çıplak Island.
