Türkiye's current account deficit came in at $45.15 billion in 2023, shrinking from  $49.09 billion in the previous year, data from the Central Bank has shown.

In December alone, the current account deficit was $2.09 billion, declining from $2.77 billion in November. This was less than the $3.3 billion gap economists had expected for the month.

Türkiye's current account posted a deficit of $2.7 billion in November 2023, after two months of surpluses, the data from the Central Bank showed on Jan. 12.

The current account recorded surpluses were $1.92 billion in September and $10 million in October.

Türkiye's current account swung to a surplus in June for the first time since October 2021, helped by tourism revenues, data from the Central Bank showed on Aug. 11.

The country's current account surplus was $674 million in June, larger than what most analysts had expected. In May, the current account balance produced a deficit of $7.84 billion.

Türkiye's current account deficit has widened from $4.9 billion in March to $5.4 billion in April, the Central Bank has announced.

The deficit was $2.54 billion in April last year.

"Gold and energy excluded, the current account indicated net deficit of $480 million in April," the bank said.

The Greek current account deficit fell by 3 billion euros in the January-February period this year compared with the corresponding period in 2022, to stand at €1.5 billion, the Bank of Greece said on Thursday. 

Türkiye's current account deficit was $3.46 billion in June, rising by $2.27 billion from a year ago, according to the Central Bank.

Turkey's current account deficit came in at $2.7 billion in April, widening by $1.2 billion in the same month of last year, the Central Bank said yesterday.

On the back of the April data, the country's 12-month rolling current account gap amounted to $25.7 billion.

Turkey's current account balance posted a surplus of $1.65 billion in September, bringing the 12-month rolling deficit to $18.4 billion, the Turkish Central Bank revealed on Nov. 11.

In September 2020, the current account balance posted a $2.3 billion deficit.

Turkey's current account balance posted a deficit of nearly $1.23 billion in February, according to official figures released on April 13.

The deficit was $117 million in the same period last year, said the Central Bank.

The bank's balance of payments figures showed the country's 12-month rolling surplus amounted to $6.13 billion.

Turkey's economy ran a current account deficit of $1.8 billion in January, below the median of analysts' forecasts, the Turkish Central Bank revealed on March 11.

The gap widened $1.5 billion compared to the same month of last year, bringing the 12-month rolling surplus to $6.5 billion, the bank said in a statement.
