Now enthusiasts of the paired-dance technique set to Latin beats of the same name have wasted no time shimmying back onto the dance floor.

If it takes two to tango, then the national dance of Argentina may come up one short in the age of coronavirus.

Tango classes, shows and milongas - traditional tango gatherings - have been suspended in capital Buenos Aires for at least 15 days as the dance community follows the government's lead in banning public events.

Competitive ballroom dancing, which is known as DanceSport, has taken off in Turkey shortly after the country was accepted as a member of World DanceSport Federation. 

Romania has obtained a silver medal, through pair Mihai Paraschiv - Diandra Illes, in the Ten Dance Youth and Adults World Championships that took place on Friday in Riga, Latvia, according to a press release remitted by the Romanian Dancesport Federation.

An Argentine couple danced their way to first place in the stage competition at the 12th annual World Tango Championship, where a same-sex pair also took home a top prize for the first time.
