Turkey’s men’s basketball team coach Ergin Ataman has said the team is eyeing a medal in next month’s FIBA World Cup in Spain.

“Our first target is to get a medal,” Ataman said in a press conference during the team’s training camp in Bormio, Italy.

Panathinaikos announced on Tuesday the hiring of Montenegrin coach Dusko Ivanovic for the next couple of years, as the Greek champion and cup holder has chosen to revert to a tried and tested solution instead of extending the spell of its former captain Frangiskos Alvertis on its bench.

Legendary Serbian coach Dusan Ivkovic has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Anadolu Efes, vowing to raise a new generation of stars at the premier Istanbul basketball club.

Anadolu Efes has agreed terms for European basketball legend Dusan Ivkovic to take over as head coach, the club announced on May 30.

The Istanbul club said it would officially unveil Ivkovic in a ceremony on June 3.

Defending Turkish men’s basketball league champion Galatasaray Liv Hospital is one win away from the finals, following its victory over Banvit on May 28.

The Istanbul team used its home-court advantage to beat Banvit, the regular season leaders, and won the game 67-61 to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series.
