Turkey eyes medal in FIBA Basketball World Cup
Turkeyâs menâs basketball team coach Ergin Ataman has said the team is eyeing a medal in next monthâs FIBA World Cup in Spain.
âOur first target is to get a medal,â Ataman said in a press conference during the teamâs training camp in Bormio, Italy.

No Spanoulis, Fotsis or Big Sofo for Greece

New Greece coach Fotis Katsikaris announced on Sunday his provisional squad for the World Cup to take place in Spain from August 30, leaving out some of the most experienced hoopsters such as Vassilis Spanoulis, Antonis Fotsis, Loukas Mavrokefalidis and Sofoklis Schortsanitis.

Legendary Serbian coach Dusan Ivkovic has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Anadolu Efes, vowing to raise a new generation of stars at the premier Istanbul basketball club.
The 70-year-old coach highlighted the importance of young players several times during the press conference on June 3, his first as the coach of the team.

Defending Turkish menâs basketball league champion Galatasaray Liv Hospital is one win away from the finals, following its victory over Banvit on May 28.
The Istanbul team used its home-court advantage to beat Banvit, the regular season leaders, and won the game 67-61 to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series.
