Kosovo, Serbia Hold Rival Commemorations of Vital 1999 Battle
Hundreds of Kosovo Albanians and troops gathered on Sunday in the village of Koshare/Kosare to commemorate the anniversary of a key battle 24 years ago near the Kosovo-Albania border between the Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA fighters and Yugoslav Army troops.

The Battle of Kosare was fought on the slopes of Junik and Prokletije mountains, on the border with Albania, where our army heroically resisted, without retreating by an inch, a multi-week offensive mounted by the terrorist KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army"), the Albanian army, and the mujahideen, backed up by the Western military alliance's bombs.

The Albanians in question were members of the co-called KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army"), Milovan Drecun, a member of the Serbian National Assembly from the ranks of the ruling SNS, told public broadcaster RTS on Thursday.
Belgrade boulevard to be named after Battle of Kosare heroes
Heroes of Koshare
Belgraders have chosen to name the boulevard connecting the Ada Bridge with the Tosin Bunar neighborhood after the heroes of the Battle of Kosare.
Mayor Sinisa Mali announced the results of the voting, and noted that he was "very glad that the memory of those great heroes will be preserved in that way."
Battle of Kosare heroes honored with memorial

A memorial bust has been unveiled on Wednesday of Tibor Cerna, one of the 108 Yugoslav Army (VS) soldiers who died during the Battle of Kosare.
The memorial is located in Debeljaca, a village in Serbia's northern province of Vojvodina, and was unveiled by Cerna's mother Kata and President Aleksandar Vucic.
