Seven months after the landslide at the iconic Navagio (shipwreck) beach on the Ionian island of Zakynthos which left one tourist injured, a geology expert said Greek authorities are ready to install safety measures to protect visitors from potential danger.

On the orders of the Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelova there will be no contract for renting a beach "Lipite".
 
The reason is that, despite the expectation of providing pedestrian access to the strip, this will not happen until the opening of the summer season 2019. According to the Black Sea Coast Planning Act, free pedestrian access is a must-have condition for tourists.

The Greek coast guard on Friday closed a world-famous beach on the holiday island of Zakynthos after seven people were injured in a rockfall.

All vessels are banned from approaching the beach, which can only be reached by sea, and from anchoring in the bay until further notice.

Residents on the Sporadic island of Skiathos are appealing to tourists to take only photos of one of their most beautiful beaches and not to remove any of the pebbles that have made the strand famous.

The inspections we made in Sunny Beach, Pomorie and Nessebar together with Tonka Atanasova, director of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water and Burgas Dr. Georgi Pazderov, director of RZI-Bourgas, proved again that the water is clean.

Depending on the level of pollution, the beaches are categorized as poor, satisfactory, good and excellent. This year, 13 beaches along the native Black Sea coast can boast the international blue flag "eco-certificate". By comparison, they are 519 in Greece.

Yesterday, we checked all the beaches of Sunny Beach Resort, as we do each year before the beginning of the summer tourist season, to make sure that the requirements of the Law on the Black Sea Coast are being obeyed.
