Greece's Coast Guard said on Monday it had recovered eight bodies from the sea off the northern coast of Samos, in the eastern Aegean, during a search and rescue operation to locate migrants aboard a dinghy.

The victims have been identified as six minors and two women.

Today begins one of the two atmospheric disturbances that will affect our country, with the other expected Saturday. The main feature of the weather today will be showers and occasional thunderstorms possibly locally heavy on the islands of the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.

Winds in the Aegean are expected to pick up starting today, Wednesday, with stronger gusts tomorrow, Thursday, reaching up to 8 Beaufort, especially in the central and southern parts of the sea. Temperatures will also drop across most of the country, with the east feeling it the most.
