Turkish Süper Lig and First League broadcaster Qatar's beIN Media Group, and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) reached on Dec. 29 an agreement and resolved the dispute over the payment of broadcasting rights.

Digiturk, which is owned by the global sport and entertainment network, has paid the first installment as part of the deal for this season, according to a TFF statement.

Turkish Süper Lig broadcaster Digiturk has not paid its mandatory dues for the 2020-2021 football season, the Turkish Football Federation said on Dec. 18.

digiturkThe football body's statement came after Digiturk earlier in the day said it has paid the broadcasting rights fee for this season.

Turkey's pay-TV operator Digitürk, which is now owned by Qatar's beIN Group, acquired Turkish league football broadcasting rights for a five-year period in a tender on Nov. 21, making the highest bid at $500 million.

Turkey's Competition Board has approved the sale of Digiturk to Qatari beIN Media Group, but the state fund that runs the pay TV platform said the bargaining process was still continuing.

Qatari media group beIN has completed the takeover of Turkish satellite network and pay-tv provider Digitürk, a statement from the company said late on July 13, while Qatari Emir Tammim bin Hamad al-Thani met and conferred with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an behind closed doors in Istanbul. 

An affiliate of Qatari-based television network Al Jazeera has acquired Turkish pay-tv platform and satellite network Digitürk, a statement from the companies said late on July 13.
