Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova and US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bulgaria Mrs. Herro Mustafa have confirmed that they will work to continue the strategic partnership between the two countries in the energy sector.

In Moscow, the first diplomats of Bulgaria and Russia noted the success in developing the dialogue between the two countries this year and last year and the high-level contacts that have taken place. Ekaterina Zaharieva made an official visit to the Russian capital at the invitation of Sergey Lavrov.

By the end of the year or at the beginning of the following year at the latest, the Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA) must license the project for the construction of the Belene NPP in view of changes in the legislation and requirements of the European Commission.

Bulgaria's Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova will participate in the official granting of llicense for the operational life extension of sixth unit of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, the press office of the Ministry of Energy announced on September 30. The event will take place on October 1, 2019 at 1.30pm at the Nuclear Regulatory Agency building.

A Korean company has declared a willingness to participate in the construction of Belene Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). This transpired during a meeting between Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and South Korean President Moon Jae-in. The Bulgarian prime minister is on an official visit to Republic of Korea, the special correspondent of Focus News Agency reported.

The position of Bulgarian government on the construction of Belene Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has changed because we now have serious offers and know details about the construction, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said in response to a question in parliament, Focus News Agency reported.

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said on Sunday that a gas pipeline contract from Turkey through Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary and Austria is expected to be signed on September 5th.

Economist and member of Democratic Bulgaria Martin Dimitrov predict that the European Commission may not allow the implementation of the Belene NPP project.
