Belligerents of the Syrian Civil War

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday he expects his talks this week with Russian President Vladimir Putin to result in the rapid achievement of a ceasefire in northwest Syria's Idlib region.

As tensions continue to rise in the last Syrian rebel bastion of Idlib, Russia and the United States are now battling, in Turkish, on an unprecedented turf: Twitter.

The U.S. Embassy in Ankara posted a video on its Twitter account with the caption "Eyes on Idlib."

The video's message voiced solidarity with Turkey and said the U.S. will "use its power for peace in Syria."

Russia on Nov. 12 accused the U.S. of attempting to separate Syria from its oil-rich regions.

A total of 277 terrorists have been killed so far in the course of Turkey's Operation Peace Spring  in northeastern Syria, Turkish Defense Ministry quoted Turkey-based private television CNN-Turk.
