From art squat to Berlin gentrification lightning rod

Berlin's Tacheles art squat, a symbol of the anything-goes vibe of the city after the fall of the Wall, is completing a disputed transformation into offices, shops and luxury flats.

An outlet of the Fotografiska museum chain is set to open inside the hulking, battle-scarred edifice on September 14 and the first residents of newly built homes will move in this autumn.

The Eleni Koroneou Gallery (koroneougallery.com) presents a selection of paintings and works on paper by German neo-expressionist Helmut Middendorf, which were created in the period from 1977 to 1988 and were chiefly inspired by daily life, pop culture, and the nightlife and music scene of Berlin's historic Kreuzberg district. The exhibition also includes his early Super-8 films.

George Xenos | Athens | To March 5

Designed around the notion of opening up to public view something that has been kept closed or secret, as well as the scene as a sanctuary, the Athens Concert Hall (megaron.gr) presents an expansive exhibition of work by George Xenos, some of which are on public display for the first time.

Video Dance | December 18-20

As in its physical form, the online edition of the Athens Video Dance Project seeks to showcase predominant and emerging trends on the international dance scene. Running from December 18 to 20 on avdp.gr, the event features 70 video presentations from 20 countries, thanks to partnerships with dance film festivals in Berlin, Barcelona, Budapest and Graz, among others.

Greece turns heads at ITB Berlin travel trade show

Exhibitors and guests gather at the Greece stand at ITB Berlin, the world's leading travel trade show, in the German capital on Wednesday, where some 10,000 companies from 181 countries and regions are presenting new travel services and offers. Running through Monday, Malaysia is the partner country of the fair this year.
