250-year-old inn in Istanbul to be restored

A 250-year-old inn, located in the Galata neighborhood of Istanbul's Beyoğlu district, which once hosted the headquarter of the Ottoman Bank, will be restored due to a protocol signed between the metropolitan municipality and the Bahçeşehir Uğur Education Foundation.

The St. Pierre Inn will be converted into a cultural and arts center after the restoration.

The Kanal Istanbul project has been "debated entirely" but is now at the stage of implementation, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Oct. 8.

Speaking at the 12th Transportation and Communication Week at Atatürk Airport in Istanbul, Erdoğan said the Bosphorus's inability to carry the increasing freight traffic led them to seek alternatives.

Dog tours Istanbul on public transport

A dog has taken the internet by storm after photos circulated on social media showing it commuting on Istanbul's public transport.

The buzz began when someone posted a photo of the dog on the tram in Istanbul with the caption saying, "A security officer wanted to take the dog out, but it resisted. Then he said, 'Anybody bothered? Because if not, it will get off at Kabataş station'."

Istanbul to host Diaspora International Short Film Festival

The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) will hold the Diaspora International Short Film Festival in Istanbul for the first time on Aug. 27-29, according to the event's website.

Anadolu Agency is the global communication partner of the festival that will be held at the Atlas Cinema on Istiklal Avenue in the Beyoğlu district.
