Germany, Belgium to recommend AstraZeneca jab for seniors

Germany will soon authorize the AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine for people over the age of 65, Chancellor Angela Merkel said Wednesday, the same day Belgium authorized its rollout to seniors.

The countries - both criticized for the slow pace of their inoculation drives - had previously said there was insufficient data about the effect of the vaccine on older age groups.

COVID vaccination campaign/ 38,158 people inoculated in past 24 hours

The National COVID Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV) informs that according to data provided by the National Public Health Institute through the National Electronic Vaccinations Registry app, 38,158 people have received the coronavirus jab in the past 24 hours, with 28,693 injected with the Pfizer vaccine and 9,465 with the AstraZeneca serum.

946,781 people vaccinated against COVID-19 until March 1st, of whom 618.241 with two shots

The chairman of the National Committee for the Coordination of Immunisation Activities against SARS-CoV-2, Valeriu Gheorghita, informed on Tuesday, that until March 1st, at 18:00, there were a total of 946.781 people vaccinated, of whom 618.241 received two doses.
