Journalist beaten in eastern city, two arrested
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault on journalist Sinan Aygül in the eastern Bitlis province's Tatvan district.
Yücel Baysali, an employee of Tatvan Municipality, and police officer Engin Kaplan were detained and subsequently taken into custody.

Ahlat looking for lost book on its history

7 traffickers detained, over 80 foreigners held in eastern Turkey
Seven traffickers were detained and over 80 foreign nationals illegally brought into the country were held in eastern Turkey, authorities said on March 6.
Local police teams carried out an operation against migrant smuggling in the Tatvan district of the eastern Bitlis province, the provincial governorate said in a statement.

Military helicopter crashes in southeast Turkey
A military helicopter crashed in southeast Turkey, killing nine soldiers and injuring four, the defense ministry said on March 4.
The helicopter crashed in the town of Tatvan, in the Bitlis province.
The Cougar type helicopter was on its way to Tatvan from the nearby province of Bingöl when it disappeared from radar at 2:25 pm (1125 GMT), the ministry said.

Migrant boat sinks off eastern Turkey, 7 killed
A total of seven irregular migrants were killed on Dec. 26 when their boat sank in Turkey's Lake Van.
The boat carrying 71 irregular migrants capsized in Lake Van off eastern Bitlis province and seven of them were killed, while 64 migrants were rescued, the governorship said in a statement.
