Bled Strategic Forum to focus on solidarity for global security
The Bled Strategic Forum (BSF), Slovenia's prime foreign policy event, will be held on 28 and 29 August for the 18th year. Running under the title Solidarity for Global Security, it will explore ways of ensuring global security by working together.
The organisers announced the theme of the international conference on 28 July, but the names of the participants are yet to be revealed.
101 reasons to visit Slovenia, if only for the lakes
If you are looking to cool off in Slovenia on a hot summer day, look further than Lake Bled or Bohinj. There are around 280 lakes in the country, the top 101 of which are featured in a book called The Slovenia Lakes.
Bled soon to welcome Chipperfield-designed museum
Celebrated for its picturesque lake, islet and a castle perched on a rocky cliff, Bled will broaden its appeal further next year by adding a contemporary art museum designed by the award-winning British architect David Chipperfield.

As King Charles III was crowned at a ceremony in London on 6 May, the UK Embassy held an event in Mojstrana in the north-west of the country to remember his visit to Slovenia 25 years ago.

German-Slovenian Economics Day hears about challenges and ways to meet them
A staffing gap, issues related to transparency of procedures and transport infrastructure were pinpointed as Slovenia's main challenges as a business destination, as the German-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its annual German-Slovenian Economics Day at the IEDC Bled School of Management on 18 April.
Vintgar Gorge caps visitor numbers
Vintgar Gorge, a popular sight near the alpine resort of Bled, has become the first Slovenian natural beauty spot to get a formal visitor capacity limit as more are likely to follow suit.
The gorge has been open to visitors for 130 years and is one of the most popular sights in the country. But increasing visitor numbers pose an increasing challenge, prompting adjustment measures.

Lake Bled makes CNN’s list of world’s 25 beauty spots
Lake Bled, an idyllic lake with an island in the north-west of Slovenia, has made the list of 25 of the most beautiful places in the world published by CNN Travel last week, alongside destinations like the Svalbard Islands in Norway and the UK's Lake District.
Tourism figures nearing or already topping pre-Covid levels
Ljubljana/Maribor/Koper/Bled – Tourism workers all over Slovenia are busy as a bee since this year’s peak tourist season has seen figures either closing in on the pre-Covid levels or even surpassing them. The coast, the capital, mountainous regions and several spa resorts have hit new post-pandemic highs.
Yet another fish die-off, this time near Lake Bled
Bled/Radovljica – The peak of the tourist season at Lake Bled resulted in large quantities of malodorous waste being washed off into the only outlet from the lake, the local environmental organisation has warned, adding that the Sava Bohinjka river is also full of algae. This resulted in the nearby fish farm having to euthanise thousands of fish due to poisoning.
