Blizzards

Flash snowfall, which was expected for weeks, hit Istanbul on Jan. 24. The snowfall affected traffic in some parts of Istanbul.

Hundreds of cars have been blocked on Monday night on Tuesday in the Yamate Tokyo Tunnel due to heavy snowfall. Some passengers were forced to walk to get to the escape stairs and get out, news agencies reported. The 18-kilometer-long tunnel underground in downtown Tokyo is considered the longest in Japan.

Today, in most of the country, rainfall will continue,  at noon and on the Black Sea coast rain will transform into snow. The rainfall in North and East Bulgaria will be significant. It will be windy, in the Danube Plain and East Bulgaria, a temporary and stormy northwest wind that will cause snow blizzards and the formation of droughts and winds.

The precipitation will continue in most of the country, more substantial in Northern and Eastern Bulgaria. On the Black Sea coast, the rain will transform into snow around noon.

Today's weather will be relatively mild for January.

On Saturday and Sunday, however, there will be changes and the winter will return with full force, according to the medium-term weather forecast.

Ten people have died of the strong storms in northern Europe. Many of the dead in the Netherlands and Germany have been hit by falling trees and debris.

One man died after his minibus overturned by the wind.

Severe storms are expected to hit Turkey and impact daily life starting later on Jan. 17, the General Directorate of Meteorology has warned.

This evening is expected the first significant snowfall for 2018. This is shown by the data of the National Institute of Metrology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Today it will be cloudy, with rainfall in many parts of Bulgaria. Due to cold air coming, in the evening the rain will be transforming into snow in Northern Bulgaria and the highlands in the western part of the country.

Cold, rain and snow all over the country in the coming days. The sharp drop in temperatures will begin on Friday, NOVA reports.

The cold will continue in the coming days. At the end of the week, temperatures throughout the day will be negative, and in places will not exceed minus 5 degrees.
