Blockade of the Gaza Strip

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has expressed gratitude to Türkiye for its support against Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza and neighboring territories.

The UN Human Rights Office has cautioned Israel that its actions in Gaza may have breached international law. This warning comes in response to the Israeli military's alleged failure to uphold principles such as distinction, proportionality, and caution during attacks in Gaza.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has called on the international community to unite against Israel's "barbarism" in Gaza.

"I call on all states to protect the honor and dignity of humanity, along with the children of Gaza, and to take a clear stance against the out-of-control Israeli barbarism," Erdoğan said in a message shared on social media.

Humanitarian aid for Gaza is continuing to leave Cyprus by sea and will be held in floating storage off the coast of the enclave until a US-built military pier undergoes repairs, a Cypriot government official has said.

In addition to taking control of the corridor, Israel has intensified its incursion into Rafah

The Israeli army has announced that it controls the strategic zone along the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, known as the Philadelphi Corridor. This area spans 8 kilometers and, in some places, is more than 100 meters wide. The military claims to have discovered 20 tunnels used by the radical Palestinian group Hamas to smuggle weapons into Gaza.

The United Nations, which has warned of famine in Gaza, said on Wednesday the amount of humanitarian aid entering the enclave has dropped by two-thirds since Israel began its military operation in the enclave's southern Rafah region this month.

Israel's army said Wednesday it took control of a vital Gaza-Egypt corridor it suspects aided weapons smuggling as  U.S. said new U.N. resolution on the war in Gaza will not going to change the situation on the ground.

The Turkish parliament has adopted a motion condemning Israel's attacks in the Gaza Strip city of Rafah, calling for an urgent meeting at the United Nations Security Council.

The resolution, passed unanimously at the general assembly on May 29, called on the security council to urgently convene and adopt a resolution to put an end to Israel's attacks in the southern Gaza city.

His meeting with the Prime Minister comes at a critical juncture for the Middle East, as the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza continues
