Türkiye, a producer of scorpion antivenom for several decades, is now preparing to export the product to European countries.
Live scorpions collected from the southeastern provinces of Şanlıurfa and Diyarbakır are brought to the laboratory, where suitable living conditions are provided, and venom is extracted through electrical stimulation.

Chinese community in Greece closes ranks to help cancer patient
The Chinese expat community in Greece has come together to help a 22-year-old man from China suffering from acute leukaemia, while his father is also terminally ill with cancer.
Lin Qinglin, the 22-year-old hailing from Fujian, is in serious condition and his treatment requires repeated blood transfusions.
MPs call for blood donation to Red Crescent
Many lawmakers from several political parties have made a joint call for blood donations to the Turkish Red Crescent, as the blood stocks have recently fallen below the critical level.
Though the country needs an average of 10,000 units of blood per day, blood donation has decreased by half amid the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the recent quake disaster.

Health system is in search for volunteer blood donors
In the wake of the February 28 railway disaster at Tempe that killed 57 people, thousands of people volunteered to donate blood. The amount collected within a week was almost double the usual intake, the National Blood Donation Center (EKEA) announced.
Ban on blood donation based on sexual orientation to be lifted
Ljubljana – The permanent ban on blood donation based solely on the personal circumstances of gender and sexual orientation will be abolished on 1 July, an expert group for transfusion medicine and infectious diseases has decided after the equality ombudsman raised the issue last December.
