The NGOs' joint letter also criticised the inaction of the international community and recalled the consequences of the 1990s war in Bosnia.

Bosnian Serb Ex-Soldier Convicted of Wartime Murder, Assault

The Bosnian state court in Sarajevo found ex-soldier Cvijan Tomanic guilty on Thursday of committing crimes against humanity in the Zvornik area during the Bosnian war in 1992, and sentenced him to seven years in prison.

He was convicted of participating in the murder of one person and of beating others.

Bosnian Serb Fighter Convicted of ‘Brutal’ Persecution of Bosniaks

The Bosnian state court convicted Rade Garic on Monday of the persecution of Bosniaks from Vlasenica and Srebrenica, finding him guilty of involvement in murders, forcible disappearances, physical and psychological abuse and other inhumane acts.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison under the first-instance verdict, which can be appealed.

As a minor, Emir was drawn to the hardline Bosniak nationalism of the Bosnian Movement of National Pride, BPNP. But he hoped the anti-Semitism and fascism would not be too visible, not to draw the attention of the authorities.

"I knew there was Nazism," he said, claiming to have since left the group. "I hoped it would not be on display so much."
