The executive director of Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant (TPP) has been charged with mismanagement of hazardous waste, said the Appellate Prosecutor's Office - Sofia, quoted by Focus News Agency.

The Prosecutor's Office ordered the Minister of Ecology to immediately check whether there is illegal burning of waste in the Thermal Power Plants Bobov Dol, Brickel, Sliven and Pernik, which are linked to businessman Hristo Kovachki.

The District Prosecutor's Office in the town of Dupnitsa on January 17 launched an investigation into Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant (TPP) for crimes against public health and the environment. Pre-trial proceedings for a commited crime have been initiated, BNT reported.

Russian companies have expressed an interest in modernizing energy sites in Bulgaria. There were about 50 people at the blockade at 10:30 hrs but more people keep arriving.

On Thursday, about 100 people blocked the entry and exit of trucks transporting raw materials for the mine.

A worker at the Bobov Dol mine in southwestern Bulgaria has lost his life after being smashed by a trolley, media report.

The accident reportedly took place at 06:00 local time (EET).

The worker was immediately transferred to a hospital, but died from his wounds, according to the Bulgarian National Radio.
