Russia's Bolshoi Theater has removed a ballet dedicated to dancer Rudolf Nureyev from its repertoire, citing a new Russian law that expands restrictions on activities seen as promoting LGBT rights, its director said Wednesday.

The world-famous Saint Petersburg Ballet Theater will perform the "Swan Lake" ballet at Istanbul's TİM Show Center on Dec 3, 4, and 5.

The ballet company will be accompanied on the stage by Antonina Chapkina and Fuad Mamedov, the lead singers of the Bolshoi Ballet, one of the oldest ballet companies in the world.

Murat Karahan, a Turkish tenor and general manager of the State Opera and Ballet of Turkey, will be performing Italian composer Giacomo Puccini's Tosca at Russia's Bolshoi Theater with opera stars Anna Netrebko and Placido Domingo.

Russia's renowned Bolshoi Ballet Academy is in Athens together with top soloists from the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra to present Tchaikovsky's world-renowned Christmas ballet, "The Nutcracker." Performances take place from December 23 to 29 at the Galatsi Olympic Hall. The ballet is based on E.T.A Hoffmann's tale "The Nutcracker and The Mouse King," first published in 1816.

Regarded as one the greatest performers in classical ballet today, Ivan Vasiliev will be making two appearances in Athens, performing extracts from some of his emblematic roles, as well as his own original work. He will be joined by respected soloists from the Bolshoi Ballet. Tickets cost 40 to 100 euros.

Leading dancers of Russia's famed Bolshoi and Mariisnky ballet companies - including principals Evgenia Obraztsova and Ruslan Skvortsov - will perform a Christmas Gala of highlights from the classical ballet repertory, such as "Sawn Lake," "The Nutcracker," "Sleeping Beauty," "Romeo and Juliet," etc.

Bolshoi prima ballerina and La Scala etoile Svetlana Zakharova brings her new triple bill "Amore" to the Athens Concert Hall on October 24 and 25. The production sees the Russian superstar joining forces with choreographers Yuri Possokhov (San Francisco Ballet), Patrick de Bana (Vienna State Ballet) and Marguerite Donlon.

The Bolshoi Ballet pays tribute to one of its greatest dancers and teachers, Mikhail Lavrovsky, with a show that premiered in Moscow on May 4 and is traveling outside Russia for the first time for three shows in Greece, just a month shy of Lavrov's 76th birthday.
